GST implementation will not burden farmers,
breeders, fishermen – Bernama
The implementation of the goods and services tax (GST)
on April 1 will not burden farmers, breeders or
fishermen, who will continue to receive various
initiatives and government aids.
Agriculture
and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ismail
Sabri Yaakob said even though there was a slight
increase in the prices of agricultural products and
equipment, it would not bring about a bad effect on
their income as they would also enjoy lucrative returns.
"GST will not bring about a huge impact that can cause a
big price hike. For the farmers and breeders, many of
them have already purchased their machinery on a long
term basis.
"Although GST is imposed on pesticides and fertilizers,
the government will continue to provide aids to small
farmers from time to time in order to increase their
yields," he said. |
